So I'm watching Criminal Minds. I usually watch this show in the background when I'm doing other things. At the moment, I was sketching out a short story I wanted to write.
But I'm paying attention, sort of. I know the dude's been framed for some kids murder and it cuts to commercial. When it comes back the dude is quoting a writer.
"All secrets are deep. All secrets become dark. That's in the nature of secrets. Writer. Cory Doctorow."
What?!
I don't really believe what I've heard because it's Cory. I know Cory. And this isn't a science fiction show! It has nothing to do with SF!
So I rewind.
Because I could have misheard.
It could have been E.L. Doctorow. Except that I'm pretty sure I heard Cory and it sounds like something Cory would write.
And I hear the quote again.
And he says Cory Doctorow.
I'm stunned.
Not stunned in the way that I think, no shit, he doesn't deserve it. But I'm stunned in the, Jebus, I know him! kind of way.
I'm just stunned that serious mainstream shows have any knowledge or even wants to acknowledge SF writers. Granted he's also known as a tech guy. But it's Criminal Minds!!
I'm just stunned.
Cory! When did he get so uber famous?!
