Today was cleaning day and the house is slowly starting to look like it did before the wedding. We mostly had boxes of stuff from the gifts that I never unpacked. But I took out all the cooking pots and pans and placed them in the cabinets. We have a gravy boat for Thanksgiving and a serving platter for the turkey! This is stuff we didn’t have last Thanksgiving. We just used dinner plates and big bowls for all that.

So one of our gifts was a shoe rack. I had my shoes in big boxes and I used to dig through them to find what I needed. This is left over from the California to Florida move, so it was nice to get a shoe rack so we could have some sort of organization. We take our shoes off at the door, so they were all just lined up against the wall before and that just wasn’t a good use of space. So I put together the shoe rack that we got and I have to say, I’m a little disappointed. The photo on the box showed that you could put a whole pair of shoes inside one of these cubby holes, but that’s not really the truth. I can put in my shoes, but I have to do that whole heal/toe thing like how shoes are stored in the box. Chris’ shoes, well, he’s 6′5″ with feet to match, so we could only fit one shoe in each cubby hole.

It’s not horrible. This shoe rack is more for storing shoes rather than for organizing shoes. So I think I’ll bring it upstairs and use it for shoes that I don’t wear often. IMost of the shoes in the shoe rack could go upstairs. I only wear about three pairs all the time, most of them are flip flops or sandals. So it’s not a huge loss.

We’ll have to find shoe racks that don’t have cubby holes a specific size. Target has several of those, so I can use my gift cards to buy them.
