My Big Mouth

lingChristian and I were going to make brownies except that we'd forgotten to get a pan to make it in. A block down the street is a Wal-Mart grocery story. Instead of driving it (it's a very long block), we decided to walk because the weather was nice. It was about 7:00 p.m., the time right before dusk.
Pre-dusk time is also when all the gnats come out. They hang out in undetected swarms right about face level for me. Christian kept swatting them away with his hand whenever we'd walk through a cloud of them. And once he made a spitting sound as though one had landed on his lips.
"I dare you to keep your mouth open while you run down the street," I said.
He looked at me like I was crazy and I laughed with my mouth open. Some might call it a cackle. I laughed while I walked.
And got a mouthful of gnats!
Yes, folks, I am indeed that smart!
Yes, yes, laugh at me.
